  • Continue to introduce new ideas and approaches to issues that affect all residents. Working with residents to find common ground on concerns and implementing policies to make Taneytown responsive and cooperative.
  • Playing a role in strengthening community involvement with an open door and welcoming presence in council. Continuing to support Parks and Rec. in improvements and strengthening their role in the community.

What are the three main issues you wish to address during your campaign and how do you plan to address them?

  • Lower the water bills, taxes, and fees: We have to curtail spending and prioritize. We handle that with a smaller, responsible budget, and careful spending, right down to the kind of pens and paper city hall uses. We also work with the county to oppose harmful state legislation and federal mandates that also force tax increases.
  • Help the business community to grow and thrive: Entrepreneurs and local business owners know what they need to be successful. To create a pro-growth, business-friendly environment, we work with the businesses and organizations like the Chamber of Commerce to set conditions to allow them to flourish, and bring jobs to Taneytown.
  • Citizen empowerment: Local government needs to be receptive and responsive to its people. There must be better communication between government and citizens about proposals and legislation, and the government must remember that the people are in charge. The ways in which information to citizens is disseminated must be increased.

  • Downtown Revitalization: I will propose that Taneytown be more aggressive with the existing revitalization act so that we can once again draw businesses to our downtown district and reignite the community's local economy.
  • Public Safety: I will create programs that provide safe activities and facilities for children in our community. In addition, I will propose an anonymous mobile text tip-line for the reporting of suspicious and drug-related activity in city limits.
  • Smarter Spending: I will oppose all expenditures that do not show a real benefit to the people of Taneytown and that have not been fully researched before being brought before the city council.

What are the three main issues you wish to address during your campaign and how do you plan to address them?

  • Increase Taneytown recreational space by expanding Municipal Park to make use of existing acreage and develop Bollinger Park as a nature park with walking trails, picnic areas, and educational stations which could become outdoor classrooms for local students.
  • Continue revitalizing downtown Taneytown by using available financial incentives to attract new businesses, improve existing businesses, and upgrading existing facades while gradually expanding revitalization to areas outside downtown.
  • The Taneytown Greenway, a roadway to the south of the City designed to remove truck traffic from the downtown area. Federal, state and county funding will be pursued to continue project design, right-of-way acquisition, and finally, roadway construction.
