For the Birds: Hey there, Jim Thome

BALTIMORE - Jim Thome's image, complete with a photo-shopped Orioles hat, was displayed on the video screen at Camden Yards in the late innings of Saturday's game, along with the fact that he'd been acquired in a trade with Philadelphia.

On Sunday morning, Thome was in officially in uniform and in the lineup for today's game against the Indians. He arrived to the ballpark before noon and hadn't yet introduced himself to his new teammates and coaches before being whisked into an auxiliary clubhouse to meet with media members.

I'm excited to be here," he said. "These guys, they've had a great year. They've done some special things. Hopefully we can continue to do that."

Of course, we'll have more from Thome later in the day. And then there's a game to be played.

Brian Matusz (5-9, 5.24 ERA) goes for the Orioles, who will try to finish their nine-game homestand with a victory and split the four-game series with the Tribe.

Cleveland goes with Justin Masterson (4-7, 4.09).
