Joyce Marie "Sissy" Diehl, 53, of Manchester, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at home after a brief illness.
Born Nov. 28, 1958, in Frederick, she was the daughter of Doris M. Strawsburg Diehl, of Manchester and the late Charles Samuel Diehl Sr.
She will be remembered for her hugs and kisses, and as someone who never knew a stranger. She enjoyed going to bingo with her mother, tearing up paper, making potholders and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are sister Mary Louise Franks and husband Russell, of Manchester; brothers Charles S. Diehl Jr. and wife Arlene, of Taneytown, Roger A. Diehl, of Fairfax, Va., Robert W. Diehl and wife Ruth, of Littlestown, Pa., and George H. Diehl and wife Judy, of Gettysburg, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Amy Diehl, of Taneytown; 11 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and great-nephews; and several aunts and uncles.
She was predeceased by a nephew, Charles S. Diehl III.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew S. Schenning, pastor of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester, officiating. Interment will be in the New Lutheran Church Cemetery in Manchester.
