A Hampstead resident has been transported to the burn center at Bayview Medical Center after a brush fire spread to his home in the 1300 block of Boerner Road Saturday, according to a release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Firefighters responded to the one-alarm fire at 12:46 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Jason Mowbray. It took the approximately 75 firefighters about 90 minutes to control the blaze.

Homeowner Robert Zimmerman was burning brush when the fire spread across two acres of field to the front of the house, according to the release. He was burned on the face, arm and hand. The preliminary cause is thought to be accidental.

Mowbray said the family has been displaced by the fire, though it is uncertain if any other family members were home at the time of the fire.
