The Rubys could give Carroll artists up to $10,000 in grants

The Rubys, a regional artist grants program of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance, will provide grants of up to $10,000 each to area artists in the spring. The program was created to help artists execute long dreamed of or newly inspired creative projects. A total of $120,000 will be awarded in 2014.
Grants will be made to artists of all disciplines living in Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties. The first grant round will focus on the performing arts and media arts.
The Rubys were established by GBCA with funding from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation. They are meant to provide meaningful support to individual artists at a critical point in their careers as well as to enrich Greater Baltimore's arts communities. Grants are project specific and all projects will include a public component -- a performance, presentation, screening, exhibition or reading -- to occur during or immediately following the grant period.
The deadline to submit a proposal is Feb. 2, 2014. Selected grantees will be announced in spring 2014. For more details, visit baltimoreculture.org/programs/artist-grant-program.
