Maryland makes NIT field

Maryland was not among the 68 teams picked for the NCAA tournament, but the Terrapins were selected on Sunday to play in the National Invitation Tournament.

One of four No. 2 seeds, Maryland (22-12) is set to host Niagara (19-13) in the Comcast Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

"We're excited about this," said head coach Mark Turgeon. "We have a young team and we're playing a lot of young players. This is a great opportunity for us to keep playing."

The four No. 1 seeds are Kentucky, Southern Miss, Alabama and Virginia.
