NAVY MEN'S TRACK:
The Mids have been selected to win the 2014 Patriot League Outdoor Championship, according to the conference's preseason poll, which was announced Tuesday. The preseason poll is voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
Navy received 14 first-place votes to top the poll with 126 points. Bucknell was a close second with 115 points with four first-place votes. Army was third (103) followed by Boston University (79), Lehigh (72), Lafayette (60), Holy Cross (37), American (28) and Colgate (28).
WASHINGTON COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE:
Visiting Washington College scored the final four goals of the game en route to an 8-7 victory over host St. Mary's College of Maryland in non-conference women's lacrosse action. The Shorewomen improved to 4-2, while the Seahawks fell to 4-5.
Senior midfielder Carly Eisenbrandt scored three goals to lead Washington.
LONGWOOD WOMEN'S LACROSSE:
The Lancers dropped a 16-3 decision at in-state opponent William and Mary. Shiloh McKenzie (Southern) had two groundballs and Sarah Arndt (Archbishop Spalding) one for Longwood.
UMBC WOMEN'S LACROSSE:
Junior Abby Wilson tallied a goal and an assist in each half versus Wagner for a game-high four points as the Retrievers cruised to a 10-5 victory against the Seahawks.

Freshman Jennie Milligan (South River) scored her first collegiate goal 3:17 into the second half for the Retrievers. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Gielner (St. Mary's) had three saves in her first collegiate start.
MARYLAND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL:
Senior Alyssa Thomas was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's All-Region 2 Team for the third straight year Tuesday. The two-time WBCA All-American is one of 52 All-Region Team honorees from around the country, who are considered finalists for the 10-member All-American team.
Thomas, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year for the third consecutive year by the Blue Ribbon Panel earlier this month. Thomas is just the second player in history to earn the ACC's top individual honor three times.
Head coach DeLane Fitzgerald announced the hiring of Tye Hiatt as the team's offensive coordinator following a recent national search.
Hiatt comes to Frostburg following a three-year stint with the Southern Virginia University football program. Hiatt served as wide receivers coach in 2011 and was promoted to the run game coordinator position for the 2012 season.
