Alice Diane Speicher Blubaugh, 72, of Westminster, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.
Born May 8, 1941, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Wilbur Glenn Speicher and Mary Elizabeth Marcellus Speicher. She was the wife of Robert L. Blubaugh Sr., whom she married Aug. 29, 1964.
She was a 1959 graduate from Westminster High School, and then studied voice at the Peabody Conservatory. She was a 1963 graduate of Douglas College (Rutgers), and earned her masters equivalency in education from Towson State Teachers College. She was a teacher who served at Westminster Elementary and Sykesville, New Windsor and Shiloh Middle schools.
She attended Ascension Episcopal Church. She was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Wakefield Valley Golf Club, enjoyed reading, planting flower gardens, going to the beach and especially being with family and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son and daughter-in-law Robert L. Jr. and Margaret Blubaugh, of Westminster; daughter and son-in-law Melissa D. and Bryant Moshang, of Westminster; siblings W. Glenn Speicher Jr., of Taneytown, Mary Elizabeth Gillin, of Havertown, Pa., and Sally Speicher Booth, of Silver Run; and grandchildren Braden, Mia, Miranda, Gillian and Colleen.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Ann Schlossnagle, of Carroll Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
