Joseph M. Murphy, 58, of Westminster

Joseph Michael Murphy, 58, of Westminster, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street at work.

Born April 27, 1955, in Fort Dix, N.J., he was the son of Ruth Greenwood McMillian, of Westminster, and the late Joseph Michael Murphy Sr.

He was a 1973 graduate of Rancocas Valley Regional High School in Mount Holly, N.J. He worked in the parts department at Northwest Honda in Owings Mills. He enjoyed cars, going to the beach, scenic drives and especially his two cats, Harry and Sammy.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are siblings Timothy Patrick Murphy, of Lumberton, N.J., Donna Marie Burhurst, of Reston, Fla., Kathleen Jo Murphy, of Frederick, and Eric Albert Vande Wettering, of Hagerstown; and 22 nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

The family will be having an informal service at the end of the evening visitation if anyone would like to share memories. Interment will be private.
