Letter: March for life in Annapolis

In the 35th annual Maryland March For Life in Annapolis on Monday, March 10, Carroll citizens will join other Marylanders supporting the common cause of human life.

The march begins 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, 111 Duke of Gloucester Street. Pre-march events begin at 5:15 p.m. with a nondenominational service in Saint Mary's school led by Pastor Lisa Yerby-Bryson, and a Catholic Mass in the church led by Bishop Michell Rozanski, Archdiocese of Baltimore.

We will march five blocks to our 7 p.m. rally at the State House Lawyers Mall. Featured speakers are Tracey Tiernam of WRBS Radio and Ryan Bomberger of Radiance Foundation, who was conceived in rape and adopted by a loving family. Other speeches will underline the injustice of the destruction of helpless humans and our need to relentlessly act to reinstate legal and moral support of our unalienable, God-given, and constitutionally guaranteed right to life.

Senators and Delegates who valiantly defend the sanctity of life from conception to natural death will be introduced and gratefully thanked. In Annapolis, life supportive bills are regularly voted down or are not even brought to a committee vote. Yet, we will steadfastly advocate the passage of Senate Bill 34, the "Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act," in the Senate Finance Committee, chaired by Sen. Thomas Middleton and cross-filed in the House of Delegates Health and Government Operations Committee, chaired by Del. Peter Hammen.

The act would ban abortions in Maryland after the fifth month of pregnancy when unborn humans can feel pain. Many felons are spared pain when executed. Should not innocent, defenseless victims at least be spared excruciating pain when killed?

Only prayer, fasting, virtuous reason and action will return us to reverence for human life. God is not mocked. In Deuteronomy 30:19 and 19:3-4 God says, "I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life ..." ; and, "I am bringing such evil upon this place ... because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents", and in Proverbs 24:11-12, "Rescue those being led away to death, hold back those who are being dragged to the slaughter. Will you object, 'But look, we did not know?' Has he who weighs the heart no understanding, he who scans your soul no knowledge? He himself will repay a man as his deeds deserves."
