Christine Marie Capriolo, a former resident of Eldersburg, graduated June 5 from the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The college is in the Harlem section of New York City and recruits students who are dedicated to practicing in underserved communities.
Capriolo was among 121 graduates and was one of 26 graduates who were members of Sigma Sigma Phi, the national honorary osteopathic service fraternity, which recognized those students who engaged in community service by providing medical services in clinics serving the underprivileged.
Capriolo graduated from Century High School in 2004 and from New York University in 2008.
On June 18, Capriolo began a three-year residency in pediatrics at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center in New Hyde Park, N.Y. This hospital is part of the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System.
Upon completion of her residency, Capriolo plans to continue her education and seek a fellowship in the field of neo-natal intensive care.
