OWINGS MILLS -- Philadelphia Eagles veteran free agent offensive guard Evan Mathis remains in town on his visit with the Baltimore Ravens.
He's in discussions with both the Ravens and the Eagles.
"I think it's a good fit," Mathis said in a Thursday telephone interview with the Times. "We had a good meeting."
Asked if a deal is imminent on Thursday, Mathis replied: "We're not at that point yet."
Mathis is regarded as one of the top offensive guards on the free agent market and could be a good replacement for Pro Bowl offensive guard Ben Grubbs, who signed a $36 million contract with the New Orleans Saints that included a $10 million signing bonus.
Mathis started 15 games last season for the Eagles and graded out as the top offensive guard, according to Pro Football Focus.
Mathis is a former Carolina Panthers third-round draft pick from Alabama, the same alma matter as Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome.
"It's a good connection," Mathis said. "It's going really well so far."
