The Mount Airy branch of Carroll County Public Library has a special program for adults on June 8. Come out and meet Michele "Wojo" Wojciechowski, a national award-winning freelance writer and humorist, as well as a stand-up comedian and public speaker.

Her writing has appeared in Family Circle, Boys' Life, Baltimore magazine and the Los Angeles Times Magazine, among many others. She has written the award-winning column "Wojo's World" since 2003 and is a faculty member of the Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop.

This program is made possible by the Carroll County chapter of the Maryland Writers' Association, which teamed up with the library to bring in this guest speaker as a way getting the word out about the writing scene in Carroll County, according to Beth Heltebridle, children's services supervisor at the library.

Heltebridle, who helped to make the arrangements for the program, said, "We are excited to offer this program and are trying to coordinate other programming with them. There are many local authors in the community and we are glad to have an opportunity to showcase the group."

After Wojciechowski speaks, the chapter will have its elections, and offer an opportunity to learn about the association and give an opportunity for participants to express ideas for future Maryland Writers' Association events in Carroll County.

The program starts at 1 p.m. and no registration is required.

The library is at 705 Ridge Ave., Mount Airy. Call there at 410-386-4470 for more information.
