Alvernia awards scholarships

Several local students have been awarded scholarships to attend Alvernia University this fall.

Maci Quinn, of Taneytown, has been granted the $16,000 Presidential Scholarship to study at Alvernia. Quinn is a senior at Francis Scott Key High School.

Rachel Hunt, of Sykesville, has been granted the $14,000 Trustees' Scholarship to study healthcare science at Alvernia. Hunt is a senior at Century High School.

Regan McGraw, of Manchester, has been granted the $12,000 Veronica Founder's Scholarship to study nursing at Alvernia. McGraw is a senior at Manchester Valley High School.

Nearly 150 high school merit scholarship winners attended Alvernia's annual Scholarship Luncheon Feb. 22 with their parents.

The university is in Reading, Pa.
