May films dig up old favorites

Summertime and the big movies are here. This is the time of year for action, adventure and comedy. 2012 looks great. Here is a list of prominent May films.

"The Avengers" - The first one might just be the biggest of the season. Why not put a bunch of superheroes all on one team? Sort of a New York Yankees in the movies is the idea, I guess. Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Thor all unite for the common good against the enemy.

Don't worry, Spiderman and Batman have their own movies out also, thank you very much. The Avengers are, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Hemsworth with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson and Gwyneth Paltrow. I already can't wait for "Avengers 2."

"Dark Shadows" - Based on the adored and successful TV series from the late 1960s and early '70s seventies, the movie brings back Barnabas Collins, the vampire that everyone loves. The cast includes Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter.

"The Dictator" - Sacha Baron Cohen, who brought us "Borat," is back with a film about a dictator who

wants to make sure his country never sees democracy. Anna Faris, one of the funniest women in movies, is in the film, as is one of our best actors, John C. Reilly.

"Battleship" -- The Navy must help the world fight against an alien invasion. The cast includes Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgard and Rihanna.

"Men in Black 3" -- The wonderfully amusing series returns. Special agent J travels back in time to save the day. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back and Josh Brolin joins the proceedings.
