'Cops on Rooftops' to raise money for Special Olympics

Police from the county will sit on top of the Dunkin' Donuts in Westminster as part of the "Cops on Rooftops" fundraiser for Special Olympics Maryland on Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22.
Chief Jeff Spaulding, of the Westminster Police Department, and Captain Jim DeWees and Lieutenant Pat McCrory, of the Maryland State Police, will sit on the doughnut shop, which is located at the 140 Shopping Center on Md. 140, according a press release. They vow to stay on top of the doughnut shop until they raise $6,000 for the Special Olympics.
Five other police departments across the state will hold similar fundraisers.
People can donate at http://www.copsonrooftops.com or go to the store itself where volunteers, other officers and Special Olympics athletes will greet customers inside and outside of the store and pass around a donation jar, according to the release.
