Michael Nicholas Sabo Jr., 96, of Taneytown, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at home.
Born Nov. 14, 1917, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Katherine Sabo and Michael Sabo. He was the husband of the late Helene J. Sabo, his wife of 66 years.
He was a veteran, retiring as a Navy supply officer and later served in the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Boumi Shriners.
He enjoyed working outside on his farm, gardening, vegetables, fruit trees, walking, polka, music and spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter Michele Kiser and husband Douglas, of Taneytown; grandchildren Michael G. Hughes and wife Sabrina, of Hanover, Pa., Audrey Corish and husband Matthew, of Mays Chapel, Douglas Kiser, of Taneytown, and Katherine Kiser and fiancé Brian Bowers, of Taneytown; great-grandchildren Michael Hughes Jr. and Chloe Hughes, of Hanover, and Brian Bowers Jr., of Taneytown; and brothers Edward Sabo, of Grasonville, and Robert Sabo, of Honolulu, Hawaii.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Stephan Sabo; a brother, Alexander Sabo; and a sister, Vera Sabo Gonzalez.
Cremation arrangements were provided by Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services in Westminster.
