AT&T has expanded 4G LTE service to areas of Eldersburg, Woodbine and Mount Airy.
Prior to the expansion along I-70, areas had 4G, said Elyssa Rae, a spokesperson for AT&T.
LTE technology is six times faster than 4G, and 10 times faster than 3G, according to a release from AT&T.
The expansion is part of a three-year investment plan to enhance broadband networks, the release said. It provides high-speed Internet access through mobile devices.
According to its website, Verizon already offers 4G LTE and 4G LTE Extended, meaning in some areas it may connect to 3G. In Maryland, it offers 4G LTE in the Baltimore, Frederick, Hagerstown and Salisbury markets.
