OWINGS MILLS - Ravens Pro Bowl right guard Marshal Yanda practiced Monday for the first time this summer, albeit on a limited basis.
Yanda had shoulder surgery following the season and was sidelined for minicamp last month and for the first two-plus weeks of training camp.
"Always great to have him back out there," Caldwell said. "He's a great leader obviously. He's been in meetings and things of that nature, but he brings a lot of experience and a lot of toughness to our guys up front."
Running back Bernard Pierce also practiced Monday after missing practice each of the previous two practices because of the bruised knee he suffered during Baltimore's first preseason game.
Harbaugh said Sunday that Pierce could play in the Ravens' preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Thursday.
NOTE: Outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw was excused from practice each of the last two days for the birth of his child. Upshaw posted on Twitter that his son, "CJ," was born at 4:32 a.m. on Monday.
