The word: Indie director Gareth Edwards, whose only previous work was the small-scale disaster film "Monsters," steps up to take on the story of everyone's favorite irradiated dinosaur. Early word says the film will focus on the human characters, played by "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston, "Kick-Ass'" Aaron Taylor-Johnson and "Oldboy's" Elizabeth Olsen. Early trailers have played up a sense of scale and dread, treating the kaiju as creatures to be feared. It's been ten years since the last Godzilla film hit Japan, the longest gap between films the big G has experienced since his debut in 1954.
Details: "Godzilla" premieres Friday in theaters nationwide, including Regal Westminster 9. For show time information, call 410-857-1422.
