The Intermediate Show Team from Best Intentions Farm, in Westminster, attended its first show of the year Jan. 22 at the Carroll County Agriculture Center. Sponsored by Horse Force 4-H Club, the team showed in the introductory level of this first of three dressage shows.

Literally translated from French as "training," dressage is riding correctly and accurately, creating a sense of oneness between the horse and rider.

This was the first dressage show most of the team members had ever participated in, and everyone was successful. Ellie Profaci and her horse Cody used the show as a training event for upcoming Pony Club trials, and Caroline Shriver rode Chase, owned by Best Intentions Farm, also as a training event under the guidance of Coach Sheryl Nupp as the pony had never entered a dressage show before.

Also entering for the first time were riders Paige Fitzgerald and Jessica Nefflen sharing Delta Blues, a veteran to the dressage ring, and Lindsey Elyar, riding Mike-A-Lyte, another experienced dressage pony, under Coach Yonah Miriam Schulman.
