For the Birds: Are the Birds back in it?

I guess Cleveland was the cure for was ailing the Orioles.

If Baltimore wins Monday night, a four-game sweep of the Indians will be complete. And the Orioles will be 52-44 and back into the playoff mix.

True, they weren't really out of the wild-card picture despite limping through the All-Star break. But suddenly they trailed the Yankees by 10 games in the AL East, and the positive mojo from the first half of the season was slipping away.

Well, New York is busy losing four straight to the A's while the Orioles are taking it to Cleveland and Minnesota. And now Baltimore is six games behind the Yanks in the division, and tied with Oakland and Los Angeles for the top wild-card spot.

One more game with the Tribe on Monday night before the Birds return to Camden Yards for a six-game homestand to face Tampa Bay and Oakland.

We'll see if the recent success continues.
