Francis Willard Buchman, 85, of Westminster, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.
Born Jan. 24, 1929, in Hampstead, he was the son of the late Harvey Eugene and Goldie Wisner Buchman. He was the husband of Mary Rosella Shaffer Buchman, who died in 2013.
He had worked as a farmer most of his life, and had also been employed at Black & Decker. He had been a member of Gideons International, had been active with the Christian Farmers Outreach, and enjoyed telling people about Jesus. He was a member of Taneytown Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and had previously been a member of Baltimore County Baptist Church for 25 years.
He enjoyed making things grow on his farm, hunting and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was known to be a generous man and liked giving things away.
Surviving are children Gary F. Buchman and wife Debbie L., of Littlestown, Pa., Sharon D. Wible, of Gettysburg, Pa., and Mark W. Buchman, of Westminster; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by brothers Elwood, Harry, Elmer and Peter Buchman; sisters Gladys Bauerlein, Inez Gouge, Patricia Ruby and Ruth Glover; and a son-in-law, Richard Wible.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with his son, the Rev. Gary F. Buchman, officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
