Mary K. Nobile, 89, of Westminster, formerly of Eldersburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Carroll Lutheran Village.
Born March 4, 1924, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Chapman Clise and Anna Maria Lemmert Clise. She was the wife of Carl Anthinus Nobile, her husband of 59 years.
She moved to Baltimore at the age of 6, attended public schools and graduated from Eastern High School.
She met her husband at Luther League and married him Sept. 5, 1954, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baltimore.
She worked at Sun Life Insurance Company of America for 15 years until the birth of her first child. She took upon herself the role of mother and homemaker for 17 years, then returned to the workplace and worked 12 years for the State of Maryland Rosewood Center. She retired as secretary to the buyer.
She was active early on in Sunday school as a teacher and secretary at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baltimore. She worked with Girl, Cub and Boy scouts. She was a member of Eastern Star Highland Chapter No. 33, worked with DeMolay and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed the performing arts, including classical music, opera and ballet. Additional favorite pastimes included reading, crossword puzzles, square dancing, games and nature.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons Carl J. Nobile, of Westminster, and David K. Nobile, of Mount Airy; and a grandson, Nicholas E. Nobile, of Mount Airy.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time funeral service, 11 a.m. Friday Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with Chaplain Jimmie Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
