William A. Williamson, 88, of Winfield

William A. Williamson, 88, of Winfield, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at home.

Born Aug. 31, 1924, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland Williamson and the late Ollie Lee Ambrose Williamson. He was the husband of Cora "Peggy" Disney Williamson.

He served in the Navy during World War II. He was an English teacher for more than 40 years for Baltimore County public schools, and a driver's education instructor. He had a master's degree in Education from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College.

He enjoyed reading and listening to music and animals.

Surviving are daughter Cathy Baynar and husband Jack, of Winfield; granddaughters Jennifer Becker. of Winfield, and Tracey Davidson. of Greencastle; a grandson, Mike Baynar, of Winfield; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Roberts, of Baltimore; four nephews; and a niece.

He was predeceased by a brother, Vernon Williamson; a nephew, Ross Williamson; and a niece, Melissa Disney.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
