Eleanor J. Hughes, 89, of Westminster

Eleanor Jean Sullivan Hughes, 89, of Westminster, formerly of Severna Park, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 25, 2013.
Born Nov. 17, 1923, in Uniontown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth M. Sullivan. She was the wife of William R. Hughes, who died in 1999.
She was an executive secretary to Glenn L. Martin in the 1940s and 1950s at the Glenn L. Martin Company, now Lockheed Martin Corporation, and was the executive secretary to Harry R. Hughes, the Maryland Secretary of Transportation in the 1960s to 1980s before he became governor.
She was a charter member of the Baltimore Center Club and was an avid golfer and bridge player.
Surviving are sister-in-law and brother-in-law Donie and Edward Chatfield; nephews Tom, Dale, and Gary Chatfield; eight grand-nephews and grand-nieces; and 15 great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
Funeral services and interment will be private.
