The Eliza D. Kane Scholarship Committee of White Rock Church presented awards of $3,000 each to three students for the 2013-2014 academic year on Aug. 10. The recipients have a record of regular attendance and participation in their local churches: White Rock Church and St. Luke United Methodist Church.
These students, whose high school and/or college records indicated scholastic achievement as well as personal development worthy of recognition, were recommended by their pastors for the award.
Aynia Dorsey, of White Rock Church, is a junior at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
Faith Green, of St. Luke United Methodist Church, is a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Alexis Kimbrow, of St. Luke United Methodist Church, is a freshman at Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island.
The scholarship fund is dedicated to the memory of Eliza D. Kane, a native of Carroll County and devoted member of White Rock Church, whose life work was a successful career in education.
White Rock Church and St. Luke United Methodist Church are in the Sykesville area.
