Several local students from Salisbury University recently participated in the 2012 National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

Jamison Douglas, of Hampstead, is a senior majoring in economics at Salisbury University. He presented "Viewing Local, Regional and National Deforestation Trends and Policies in the Brazilian Amazon through the Lens of an Econometrician."

Jessica Simpson, of Mount Airy, is a junior majoring in history at Salisbury. She presented "Controlling the Feebleminded Population: The Eugenics Debate in Maryland, 1900-1960."

April Katsirubas, of Mount Airy, is a senior majoring in psychology at Salisbury. She presented "Breast Health Among Minority Women."

They were among 25 Salisbury University students to attend the conference.

A two-time past host of the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, Salisbury University is the only Maryland campus to hold the event.
