Westminster High School's Instrumental Music Boosters will have their 14th Annual Bull, Oyster and Shrimp Roast from 7 to 11 p.m. April 20 at Pleasant Valley Fire Hall.
According to Joan North, a volunteer on the bull roast committee, money from this event will go toward the entire instrumental music program at Westminster High. "We use that money to fix existing instruments, to purchase new instruments, for the scholarship fund for seniors, to purchase music, training and other needs," she said. "The amount and the number of scholarships given each year varies according to the amount they collect."
The menu at this event includes pit beef, pit turkey, fried chicken, and raw, steamed and fried oysters as well as oyster bisque, steamed shrimp and more. Beer, wine and soda are included in the ticket price.
The band Bootleg will bring the dance floor to life. "They do a lot of different types of music," North said. "They're a cover band. They play a mix of some older, [classic rock] mixed with country and favorites, a whole bunch of stuff."
North said of the event: "Oh my gosh, it is so much fun. We have a silent and live auction, 50/50 tickets, big wheels, pull tab tickets, and with the dancing and dinner it's a great time. And the food is delicious."
Silent auction and live auction items include sports memorabilia, wine tasting, music lessons, Ski Liberty ski passes, Carroll County Farm Museum season passes, baseball tickets from the Frederick Keys and much more.
Those who attend must be at least 21 years old. A photo ID is required.
Tickets cost $40 per person or $380 for a table of 10 and must be purchased by April 9. For tickets or more information, call 443-293-7449 or email ticketswhsimb@gmail.com.
