Arts council announces Peep Show winning entries

An entry inspired by the Statue of Liberty won the most votes in the sixth annual Peep Show, a fundraiser for the Carroll County Arts Council.

"The Statue of Peeperty," an entry by Sydney Blaxton, received 3,746 votes and earned grand prize honors at the Peep Show, which ended Sunday.

The annual spring Westminster event features art that is made of or inspired by marshmallow Peeps. Visitors could vote for their favorites from the show of 192 entries. The Peep Show raised $43,000 for the Arts Council.

Other popular entries: "Long Live Sesame Peep," by the Mondor family (3,422 votes); "Peepin' Ain't a Crime: Bart Simpson," by Christian Twamley (2,413 votes); "Really Really Sweet 16," by the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster (1,673 votes); "Sponge Bob Hula Skirt," by the Alejandrez family (1,521 votes) and "Dancing With The Peeps," by Camryn Cruz (1,455 votes).

"Romeo & Peepliette," a film created by Sandymount Elementary School staff and students, received 367 votes and was named the audience's favorite film.
