North Carroll graduate made frst profession vows

Mary Harp made her first profession as a Benedictine Sister of Queen of Angels Monastery on July 11, in front of community members, family and friends.

Taking a new name as part of her profession, Sister MaryAnne promised stability, obedience and fidelity to the monastic way of life through her spoken and written words.

Formerly of Upperco, she was a graduate of North Carroll High School and of Frostburg State University with a degree in early childhood/elementary education.

During her nearly two years at Queen of Angels Monastery, she, among other duties, has been a regular volunteer at St. Joseph Shelter, working both as a receptionist and with the young children at the Shelter. This summer she is daily tutoring six children, who range in age from preschool to sixth grade, at the Shelter.
