Former Ravens quarterback Troy Smith signed with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League Wednesday.
The Alouettes announced the move.
The 29-year old Smith won the Heisman Trophy as a senior at Ohio State in 2006, but he was primarily a backup during three seasons with the Ravens and hasn't played in an NFL regular season game since 2010.
Smith started six games for the San Francisco 49ers in 2010, but he threw for 196 yards or less in five of those six games and completed just 50.3 percent of his pass attempts. He had four interceptions and just five touchdown passes.
Smith spent time with Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2011. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2012, but he was cut during the offseason.
