is accepting nominations for the Sixth Annual Maryland Parent Involvement Matters Award Program. The Maryland PIMA is an annual award for parents whose exemplary contributions to public education have led to improvements for Maryland's public school children, teachers, schools, programs or policies. Any parent or person with legal responsibility for a child in a Maryland public school who has significantly impacted public education within the last 24 months is eligible for nomination. Baltimore County Public Schools

is hosting a community forum to receive feedback on the magnet school program: theme-oriented programs with a specialized curriculum and emphasis on alternative instruction. The forums will allow parents, students and community members to share their thoughts on the magnet school program, including reasons parents and students apply to them, how effectively they meet the needs of students and how they can be improved. The forums will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 28 at Stemmers Run Middle School, 201 Stemmers Run Road, Middle River, Nov. 29 at Edmonson Heights Elementary School, 1600 Langford Road, Woodlawn and Dec. 3 at Loch Raven High School. Notre Dame of Maryland University

is hosting "First Thursdays" open house and recruitment events the first Thursday of every month from 6-8 p.m. in Fourier Hall. Upcoming events are scheduled for Dec. 6, Jan. 3 and Feb. 7. Each session opens with a wine and cheese reception at 5:30 p.m. The events offer prospective students the opportunity to meet faculty and network with future classmates.
