Carroll recognized by Maryland Historic Trust

The Maryland Historic Trust recently gave Carroll County government the Excellence in Community Engagement Award for its participation in a project focusing on the area's involvement in Civil War history.

Over the last three years Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties have worked together on the 150th Anniversary of the Maryland Civil War Campaign project, according to a prepared release from Carroll County. Anniversary activities throughout the three counties included special exhibits at local and national historical sites and museums, re-enactments, concerts and tours; the Emmy-award winning film "Heart of the Civil War," interpretive markers and interpretive phone applications.

Carroll County participated in the anniversary project with various events including the commemoration of Corbit's Charge and a Civil War living history re-enactment at the Carroll County Farm Museum, according to a prepared release.
