Blanche L. Shipley, 89, of Reisterstown

Blanche L. Shipley, 89, of Reisterstown died March 16, 2012, at Kernan Rehabilitation Hospital.

Born Blanche Louise Peterson on Feb. 26, 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Ella W. Peterson.

She was the wife of late Charles W. Shipley Sr., who she married in 1947.

Her family moved to the Arbutus area at the onset of WWII. After graduating from Catonsville High School, she worked for the B & O Railroad until 1950.

She was a homemaker most of her life as well as a devoted and loving wife and mother.

Later in life she developed an interest in antiques and doll collecting. She owned and operated an antique shop for a few years and was a member of the Miss Carroll Doll Study Club in Carroll County.

She also took an interest in animal cruelty and rescue issues.

She is survived by her son and daughter, Charles W. Shipley Jr. and Janice J. Shipley, both of Reisterstown; and nieces and nephews including Carol Zimmerman of Pasadena, Judy Collison of Alpharetta, Ga., Donald and Bernice Smith of Annapolis, James Smith, Terry Wilbourne and Gregory Smith of Edgewater, and Jeffrey Smith of Denton.

She was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Peterson.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 20, at Lake View Memorial Park.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 203 E. Chatsworth Ave. in Reisterstown, on Saturday, March 24, at 4 p.m. A reception will immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, Carroll Hospital Center, or Kernan Rehabilitation Hospital.

Marcella Louise Wittich, 94, formerly of Woodlawn

Marcella Louise Woodward Wittich, 94, formerly of Woodlawn, died March 13, 2012, at Oak Crest Village in Parkville.

She was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Ralph Wittich.

She was mother of Richard R. Wittich and his wife Connie, Barbara H. Gibbons and her husband Jack, and Patricia W. Williams and her husband Larry; grandmother of Kristin,Brent, Kelly, Lauren, Kaitlin, Erin, Karalin, Kelsie, Jessica, Diana; and great-grandmother of Alexis and Makayla.

She was sister of the late Arthur Woodward and the late Lillian Plitt.

A memorial service was held at Oak Crest Village Chapel, 8800 Walther Blvd., on Friday, March 16.
