April 17, 2014-Devon Rothschild, candidate for the Board of Education, has received the support of Carroll County educators and the endorsement of the Carroll County Education Association (CCEA) and the Carroll Association of School Employees (CASE).

Rothschild is honored to have received this endorsement. "The heart of our school system is its teachers and staff, and I am humbled by their support. It is important to me that I receive the endorsement of the teachers in this county," Rothschild said.

According to educator Mary Hoy, "Devon sincerely cares about our students and has a great sense of what is important. Devon is a lifelong learner and I am convinced she would make an excellent board member."

Rothschild is actively involved in CCPS as a parent volunteer, PTA member, substitute teacher, and a member of the Community Advisory Council. She has three young sons, one currently attending public school and two who will begin public school in the next year.

A life-long Marylander, Rothschild attended public schools in Baltimore County. She received her bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland and her master's degree from Frostburg State University. Rothschild and her husband moved to Carroll County after having their children because of the extraordinary school system and the county's small town feel. She became involved in the school system when her oldest child began school and she continues to devote her time to the students and teachers in this county.

"I have spent much of this year visiting our schools, meeting with administrators and teachers, and speaking with parents and students," she continued. "I have seen first-hand teachers developing creative ways to engage their students, school communities joining together to support members in need, and the incredible work being done by our students. I am looking forward to becoming a Carroll County Board of Education member, and continuing to be a voice for every student."
