My name is Devon Rothschild (unrelated to Commissioner Richard Rothschild) and I would like to introduce myself as a candidate for the board of education.
I am a parent with young children in our school system. I am actively involved in our schools as a substitute teacher and a volunteer in the classroom. I am someone who has advocated for our students, our teachers, and our school system, and will continue to do so.
I have spent most of my life in Maryland, growing up and attending public school in Baltimore County. I earned a degree in biology from St. Mary's College of Maryland and a master's degree from Frostburg State University. After getting married and having our three sons, my husband and I chose to live in Carroll County because of its extraordinary public schools and small town feel.
When my oldest son started school I became, and continue to be, very active in the school system. I volunteer in our schools on a weekly basis and work directly with students and teachers. I currently serve as a representative on the Community Advisory Committee and am a member of Carroll Values Education. I am a substitute teacher for Carroll County Public Schools and an active member of the PTA. I regularly attend board of education meetings and other education-focused meetings throughout the county, speaking on behalf of our students, teachers and school system.
I will have children enrolled in Carroll County Public Schools for the next 14 years and will continue to be active in our schools.
We need people on the board of education who have a true desire to advocate for each of our students, a genuine passion for maintaining what is exceptional in our schools and improving what is not, with a strong commitment to our community. I possess these qualities and will put the needs and success of each student that attends Carroll County Public Schools above all else.
I will advocate for each student to receive a well-rounded education that allows them to excel in society, as well as support the best interests of our staff, families and community. I know I will make a powerful impact as a board of education member, and look forward to being a voice for every student in our community. Thank you for giving me your support.
