Lillian E. 'Lee' Jacobs, 86, of Sykesville

Lillian Elizabeth "Lee" Jacobs, 86, of Sykesville, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at her residence in the Fairhaven Retirement Community in Sykesville.

Born June 23, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Henry A. McBride and Anna Kurtz-McBride. She was the wife of George William Jacobs, who died Oct. 9, 1999.

She was a 1949 graduate of Chestnut Hill College, with a Bachelor of Science in physics.

She was a devout Catholic and had a more than 20-year career in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia as a high school math and physics teacher. While raising six children, she taught at the former Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Pa., before completing her career at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield, Pa.

After retiring, she moved to Sykesville and gave to many different charities.

Surviving are sons James Jacobs and wife Pam, Kevin Jacobs and wife Ann, and Bryan Jacobs and wife Rita; a daughter, Eileen Jacobs-Brady; and seven grandchildren.

She was predeceased by children Deborah Jacobs-Welsh, on Sept. 11, 2001; and William Henry Jacobs, in 1976.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairhaven Chapel, 7200 Third Ave., Sykesville. Interment will be held Friday in Calvary Cemetery in Upper Merion, Pa.
