Does any other American voter feel as disenfranchised as I do regarding their vote having any impact on the outcome of the November 2012 election?
I was raised in an activist family and believed strongly that it was a duty and a privilege to cast a vote for our elected officials. I believed that my vote counted.
This upcoming election makes it clear that the wealthy contributors, e.g. Karl Rove's American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS; Harold Simmons, a leveraged buyout pioneer; Bob Perry, Texas-based home builder; Foster Friess, Wyoming investor; and Sheldon Adelson, Las Vegas casino magnate are all spending millions and billions to defeat President Barack Obama.
It is impossible for the average citizen to even begin to compete with these outrageous sums of money that are buying the election for the highest office in our country. This certainly tells me that, for them, voting Republican will continue to enhance their ability to increase their wealth.
Be damned with the needs of the middle-class, the public servants whose incomes have been cut back to minimum wage or the health care needs of 45 to 50 million Americans in need of health care.
Yes, I will be at the polls in November. I am still hopeful if everyone votes that our American system cannot be bought.
