Creative Edge Hair Salon in Woodbine recently contributed Easter baskets for children at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda.
"We collect items for the wounded warriors at Walter Reed. For Easter, we donated 80 baskets and our customers brought in toys and candy to fill them," said Daniela Schnetzler, co-owner of Creative Edge Hair Salon.
Ann and Ted Nettles, from the Maryland Patriot Guard, picked up and delivered the baskets to Walter Reed in time for Easter.
According to the Nettleses, the USO just built and opened a new building on base and one of their first big events was going to be an Easter brunch for the wounded, ill and injured along with their family members. Schnetzler and those at her shop wanted to somehow get involved and do something for the families at Walter Reed, and the baskets seemed like a great idea.
Creative Edge also plans to collect items for Christmas again this year for Walter Reed.
