Library Schedule (Aug. 15-21)

The Eldersburg branch of the Carroll County Public Library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, will offer the following programs this week. Registration is required only where noted. For more information, call 410-386-4488.

Wednesday

Crochet 911: 7 p.m. Ages 11-Adults. Join Caroline Brocato to learn how to crochet. If you know how to crochet, please come and join the group. Please bring a size J hook and light colored yarn to the class.

Drop-In Crafts: 3 p.m. All ages. Join in for some fun crafts. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Story Pals: 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. Ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays, and activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Thursday

Nature Explorers: 2 p.m. Ages 5-8. Curious about the world around you? We'll explore and learn about nature with a variety of activities and a snack. This program is inspired by the early education program Growing Up Wild™. Refreshments will be served.

Read and Play: 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. Ages birth-24 months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Story Pals: 10:45 a.m. Ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays, and activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Friday

Movie Friday @ the Library: Puss In Boots: 10 a.m. Ages 3-Adults. Way before he ever met Shrek, Puss in Boots went on a heroic journey, teaming up with mastermind Humpty Dumpty and the street-savvy Kitty Softpaws to steal the famed golden goose. It's the adventure of nine lifetimes. This film is rated PG with a running time of 90 minutes. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Refreshments will be served. Registration for this program began 8/3/2012.

LEGO® Creations: 11 a.m. Ages 5-Adults. Want to build a castle? Or a spaceship? Or something totally new and different? Join us for a LEGO® program where you can build whatever you would like. We supply the blocks and you supply the creativity. Bring your dad or your mom and build together.

Saturday Story Time: 9:45 a.m. All ages. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays, and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Computer Camp 4 Kids - Animate: 10 a.m. Ages 10-14. Have you ever wanted to make animated cartoons on your computer, edit your photos, create short movies or your own website? Do you wonder just how safe Facebook is? Join us for a week of computer classes that will provide a creative hands-on experience. Register for 1 or all 5 classes. Registration for this program began 8/6/2012.

Year-Round Family Story Time: 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. All ages. An open invitation. This weekly story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Tuesday

Bilingual Story time-in English and ¡Español: 1 p.m. Ages 3-8. ¡Hola. Hello. Learning another language is fun and beneficial for growing brains. In this bilingual story time, presented in English and Spanish, children will listen to cuentos (stories), sing canciones (songs), play juegos (games), and pick up some Spanish along the way. Come join the fun. All children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Computer Camp 4 Kids - Safebook: 10 a.m. Ages 10-14. Have you ever wanted to make animated cartoons on your computer, edit your photos, create short movies or your own website? Do you wonder just how safe Facebook is? Join us for a week of computer classes that will provide a creative hands-on experience. Register for 1 or all 5 classes. An e-mail address is required for this session; parents are welcome to attend. Registration for this program began 8/7/2012.

Teen Volunteer Tuesday: 6 p.m. Ages 12-17. Need service hours? The library is looking for young adults who would like to earn service hours. Help the library prepare crafts for story time, pull library materials from the shelves, and do other special projects.
