Sisterhood holds unique Purim banquet

Despite the morning snow flurries and freezing cold weather, the Chizuk Amuno Sisterhood's "Paid-Up" membership dinner event was a mega success!

The sisterhood's unique theme this evening was "Vashti's Banquet" denoting and celebrating the upcoming Jewish holiday, Purim.

This theme was carried out to the max. Many sisterhood women wore attractive "Purim" attire, the dining area was decorated appropriately, plus as an added bonus there were five individual colorful canopied areas that had available for the sisterhood members - "Beauty Secrets of the Bible, Henna, Yoga, Make-Up and Massage." The members enthusiastically participated with scheduled appointments to learn and enjoy the activities listed in the various canopied areas.

Lynne Lichtig and Dixie Leikach are co-presidents, Chizuk Amuno Sisterhood.

Lynne, looking very pretty in her purple harem attire, updated members. The holiday of Purim, the story of Esther, reveals many stories of the strength of women. Vashti's story is brief but significant because it leaves an opening for Esther to enter the King's realm and save the Jewish people. Harem life existed in ancient times. Many women of this era held important positions in the household of Persian rulers and beyond, they handled real estate and finances as well as entertainment.

Sisterhood this evening had the opportunity to experience and learn some of the enhancing ways of harem life!

Buffet dinner was a Mediterrian menu that included falafel with all it's yummy fixings, etc.

Amy Katz, also looking very pretty in her colorful pink harem attire, and Amy Blavatt did a great job co-chairing this Purim oriented paid-up membership event.

Committee members included Patty Anbinder, Sue Crystal, Arlynne Brown, Miriam Golob and Donna Friedman.

Jenny Baker, synagogue administrator, also assisted behind the scene, coordinating this fun Purim event.

Gargantuan thanks everyone for the success of this unique sisterhood meeting.
