Francis L. "Jack" Jackson Jr., 88, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Manchester, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Cross Keys Village Brethren Home in New Oxford, Pa.
Born March 25, 1925, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Francis Sr. and Evelyn Hooper Jackson. He was the husband of Dolores Elizabeth Jackson, who died in 2008.
He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and served during World War II. He was retired from Joseph Seagram's Distillery as a forklift operator. Following retirement, he worked for the Town of Manchester and Manchester Pharmacy, and was a crossing guard at Manchester Elementary School.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in East Berlin and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester.
Surviving are sons Francis L. Jackson III and wife Colleen, and Keith E. Jackson, all of Hanover; grandchildren Nichole Beverly and husband Ishmael, Francis L. Jackson IV, Keith E. Jackson Jr., Austin M. Jackson, Brandon D. Jackson and Riley E. Jackson; great-grandchildren Ishmael Jr., Anthony, Kevin and Isabella Beverly; a brother, James Jackson, of Dundalk; sisters Evelyn Vogel and Blanche Jackson, both of Essex; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane E. Jackson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. George B. Scott officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Garrison Forest Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.
