Ravens: McPhee, Kemoeatu return to practice

OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens got a key piece of their defense back on the field today as defensive end Pernell McPhee practiced for the first time since the spring when he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery.

McPhee finished second on the Ravens with six sacks as a rookie after being drafted in the fifth round out of Mississippi State.

He was activated from the physically unable to perform list.

Nose guard Ma'ake Kemoeatu returned to practice after missing one day.

Not practicing today: offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie (lower back, non-football injury list), wide receiver Patrick Williams (undisclosed), wide receiver David Reed (ACL surgery), offensive lineman Jah Reid (strained calf), wide receiver Tandon Doss (hamstring), running back Bernard Pierce (hamstring), tight end Dennis Pitta (broken hand), offensive guard-tackle Cordaro Howard (knee), defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (hamstring, new son), linebacker Courtney Upshaw (bruised shoulder), linebacker Josh Bynes (undisclosed) and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs (torn Achilles tendon).

Howard is having a magnetic resonance imaging exam today to determine the nature and scope of his injury.

Suggs is on the non-football injury list.

Ngata, Reid and Reed are on the physically unable to perform list.
