Family bowling events Sunday aim to raise awareness of child abuse

Family and Children's Services is holding family bowling events across central Maryland to raise awareness about child abuse prevention and intervention during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

The event, titled Bowl a Spare and Show You Care, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at six locations across the state and one in Carroll -- Greenmount Bowling Center, 1625 N. Main St., Hampstead, according to a flier for the event. Other family-friendly activities -- such as face-painting, crafts and refreshments -- will also be available on site.

Tickets will be sold for $15 for an individual and $40 for a family of up to six people. For tickets and more information, visit

Family and Children's Services has been supporting families in crisis since 1849, working to reduce child abuse and help families out of the cycle of abuse, according to a news release for the event.
