Wednesday

Evening Story Time: 6:45 p.m. All Ages. End your day in a special way. This story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Year-Round Family Story Time: 10 a.m. All Ages. An open invitation. This weekly story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Thursday

American Girls: 6:45 p.m. Old Fashioned Games: Ages 7-10. Join us for stories and more. Bring your dolls or dress up. Refreshments will be served. Registration for this program begins 9/6/2012.

Read and Play: 10:30 a.m. Ages Birth-24 Months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Saturday

2012 Carroll County Public Library Summer Bookmark Awards: 1:30 p.m. All Ages. Celebrate our young artists and their creative entries for Carroll County Public Library's 2012 Summer Reading Bookmark Contest. Copies of the winning bookmarks will be available, art will be on display, and a brief ceremony will be held honoring our winners. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Refreshments will be served.

History Comes Alive - Meet the Gray Ghost: 2 p.m. All Ages. The Gray Ghost, John Singleton Mosby, will ride again through Maryland, just as he did nearly 150 years ago when he accompanied General J.E.B. Stuart's cavalry as they moved north to a fateful meeting with Federal forces near Antietam Creek. Portrayed by storyteller and performer David Shuey, Mosby will appear with his horse and will discuss his infamous exploits during the War Between the States. Don't miss this opportunity to personally meet the Confederacy's most prolific cavalry scout and Partisan Ranger. Rain date is 10/6. This program is sponsored in part by a Community Arts Development Grant from the Carroll County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council. A Celebrating America program.

Nature Comes to the Library: 10 a.m. All Ages. Please join naturalist Sherry Fisher from Charlotte's Quest as she brings nature to your library. Come explore and enjoy. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Monday

Drop-In Computer Basics: 2-3 p.m. Adults. Are you technology challenged about basic computer skills? Stop by for a little help with such things as e-mail, searching the Internet, e-readers, or applying for jobs online.

North Carroll Writers' Group: 6:30 p.m. Adults. Interested in writing? Want to meet others who are too? Come to the bi-monthly meetings where we share our work in a non-judgmental atmosphere.

North Carroll Book Discussion Group: 6:30 p.m. Adults. Join us for a fun and enlightening discussion of this month's book. This weeks book: My Life in France by Julia Child.

Tuesday

Move and Learn: 10 a.m. Ages 2-6. A theme-based story time featuring an age-appropriate story, songs, and learning activities, with a concentration on creative movement. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
