Westminster library branch

The Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library, 50 E. Main St., Westminster, will offer the following programs this week. Registration is required only where noted. For more information, call 410-386-4488.

Tuesday

Story Pals - Fish: 10 a.m. For ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, fingerplays, and activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Read and Play: 11 a.m. For ages Birth-24 Months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Personalized Computer Classes: 2 p.m. For Adults. Register for this event today. Would you like to set up an email account? Learn how to use the Internet? What about Facebook? Or Microsoft Word? We can teach you about these things and more. Bring your own laptop to practice on or use one of our computers for your hourlong session with a tutor from Carroll Community College.

Babies and Bagels Playgroup: 10 a.m. For ages Birth-3. Join us for a fun playgroup for babies and toddlers and their caregivers. Bagels and OJ will be served. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday

Living Off the Grid: 1 p.m. For Adults. Ted and Kathy Carns will share their lifestyle of living totally off grid for 37 years deep in the mountains of western Pennsylvania. Ted and Kathy have achieved a high degree of self-reliance in a very harsh setting using several alternative power sources. In addition, they are known for their practice of zero waste. Ted will discuss his book Off On Our Own - Living Off-Grid in Comfortable Independence in which he details his activities.

We will color our eggs the old-fashioned way using items found in your kitchen like spices, onion skins, and red cabbage. Materials will be provided. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Monday

Alphabet Train - Letter L: 11 a.m. For ages 3-6. Climb aboard each week to explore a different letter of the alphabet through books, songs, and activities. All adult caregivers are welcome.
