The Baltimore Ravens agreed to terms with former St. Louis Rams safety Darian Stewart on a one-year contract Friday.
Stewart could challenge for Baltimore's starting free safety job.
The Ravens considered re-signing safety James Ihedigbo, but a source told the Times earlier Friday that Ihedigbo is not expected to re-sign with Baltimore.
The 25-year old Stewart signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2010 and played for St. Louis the last four seasons.
The 5-foot-11, 214-pound Stewart was primarily a special teams player for St. Louis the last two years, but he did start six games last season and 13 in 2011.
He had 84 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception during that 2011 season.
Ravens secondary coach Steve Spagnuolo was Stewart's head coach in 2010 and 2011.
