Charles D. 'Doug' Bruce, 77, of Manchester

Charles Douglas "Doug" Bruce, 77, of Manchester, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Lorien in Taneytown.

Born Oct. 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Frederick Bruce and Jessie Watkins Bruce.

He worked as an engineering specialist for BGE and retired in 1994, after 40 years working there.

He enjoyed traveling with several American Legion and VFW sponsored Drum & Bugle Corps. He played first baritone horn and marched with The Silver Liners Towson, The Yankee Rebels, The Archer-Epler, Reilly Raiders, Yankee Rebels and Skyliners Alumni Drum Corps.

Surviving are niece Jennifer Mathis and husband Charles Mathis, and their children Tyler Foley and Nicklous and Samantha Mathis, all of Westminster; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Bruce, of Westminster; and lifelong friends Norman J. Corrieri, Bud Ritter and Barry Cooney.

He was predeceased by a sister, Maxine Reap; and brothers Hal, Roger and Robert Bruce.

A gathering of friends will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of memorial service, noon Friday, March 21, at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.
