Letter: Vote Shoemaker, Ready in House

On June 24 I ask that Republican Primary voters in District 5 consider joining me in casting two of their three votes for House of Delegates for Haven Shoemaker and Justin Ready.

Both Shoemaker and ready hold core conservative beliefs and values and act accordingly. While they are willing to listen to and work with anyone to benefit the citizens of Carroll County, neither would betray his core values to do so.

What are their core beliefs and values? That limited government governs best. That government should stick to its essential, constitutional functions and do them well. That respect for the pocketbooks and God-given rights of citizens should restrain and guide government in its operation.

As commissioner, Shoemaker has cut taxes each and every year in office, while fighting to fully fund education, and he brings a commodity that is in short supply in Annapolis - good, old-fashioned horse sense.

Ready has voted against every tax and fee increase proposed during his first term in Annapolis, and his record for responding to constituent concerns is unequaled among those currently representing Carroll County in Annapolis.

Most of the politicians in Annapolis see more and bigger government (and higher taxes and fees to pay for it) as the solution to all our problems. Shoemaker and Ready agree with what Ronald Reagan said in his first Inaugural Address: that government (in Annapolis) is the problem.
